Mouse Island seat cushion designed for the Visingö bench by Carl Malmsten. The members of Studio Supersju were invited by Malmstenbutiken to make new weavings inspired by the legacy of the furniture maker, designer, and educator. These cushions are currently exhibited and for sale at the shop, available there until the end of 2019.

These cushions are material-forward: the chunky white wool is spun in small batches in Sörmland, Sweden by Båvens Spinnhus. The back side has anti-slip pads of leather seconds, and the insert is made of wool batting from Åddebo Ull in Uppland.

The Mouse Island cushion keeps with Malmstens interest in Swedish production and qualitative handcraft. The aesthetic may be more modern than Malmsten but his theories on living serenely (Bo i ro) permeate these pieces.

They can be commissioned in personalized colorways, and the size suits many different benches and chairs.

40 x 20 cm. 2019.
